SLS
Sri Lanka Standards (SLS)

SLS is a product certification system that guarantees the quality of goods to consumers and third parties. Under the permission from Sri Lanka Standard Institute (SLSI) this system allows manufacturers to put SLS mark on their products. As a manufacturer outside of Sri Lanka, the applicant must submit an application and application fee to the Sri Lanka Standards Institution (SLSI). Further on, the applicant has all responsibilities to follow and fulfill the rules and regulation specified from the SLSI Act and System. Prior to this, regular factory inspections are required and the certificate is valid for 3 years.

Target Products:
Food, Electrical Appliances, Cement, Steel Products, PVC Products and more
TRC
Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (TRC)

TRC is Sri Lanka’s Telecommunication Certification. The Telecommunication Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (TRCSL) operates certification of Conformity for telecommunication and wireless equipment, and under Sri Lanka’s Telecommunication Act, communication devices imported into Sri Lanka must obtain the certificate of conformity. Applications can only be applied by Sri Lanka locals with a vendor license and depending on the product group application document, procedures and indications can vary. Test reports from testing laboratories designated with international standards such as ILAC and FCC are acceptable.

Target Products:

Telephone devices, fax machines, PABXs, modems, cordless phones (frequency, base station power and range must be verified), and other customer networks/IT connected to licensed networks (Customer-premises equipment)
SLSEA
Sri Lanka Sustainable Energy Authority (SLSEA)

SLSEA is Sri Lanka's energy efficiency labeling scheme. This system is operated optionally for imports and manufacturers of compact fluorescent lamps and magnetic ballasts (compulsory items to undergo COC). Target products must comply with Sri Lanka standards (SLS 1225:2002 - CFLs and SLS 122 (Magnetic Ballasts), and sample testing can be conducted upon request. In order for the energy efficiency class selection products tested according to Sri Lankan standards must submit test reports for luminous flux (in lumens), power factor and color temperature. If the product is considered suitable, the certification would be issued. After the certification, the label must be printed out and be attached to the product. For follow-up maintenance management, SLSEA conducts random audit/test and sampling twice a year. SLSEA is currently developing an energy labeling scheme for linear fluorescent lighting, ballasts and ceiling fan products.

Target Products:
Compact Fluorescent Lamps (CFLs), Magnetic Ballast.
