Singapore's Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI) has announced the law for Consumer protection (safety requirements) to ensure that consumer products (registered products for target management) meet the specified safety standard requirements. We call this Consumer Protection registration system as the CPS system, having the purpose to protect consumers by ensuring that regulated products satisfy relevant safety standards.

Importers, retailers, manufacturers, etc. who wish to advertise, display or sell items which are identified as controlled items must obtain a Certificate of Conformity from Conformity Assessment Bodies designated by SPRING Singapore. With the Certificate of Conformity, once the product is registered and obtains a certification mark from SPRING Singapore, the product can be advertised, exhibited or sold in Singapore.

The Singapore government has been selecting controlled items step by step since 1992, and 45 product groups, including electrical, electronic, gas appliances and accessories, are classified and managed as controlled items.

Target Products:

Adapters, LPG systems, cooking ranges, electric irons, gas cookers, hair dryers, microwaves, televisions, video player devices, video cassette recorders, fans, high-frequency equipment, water heaters, kettles, refrigerators, rice cookers, air conditioners, and vacuums. It includes vacuum cleaners, washing machines, etc.,

There are more than 35,000 controlled item models registered and recognized by SPRING Singapore.
