AiTi
Authority for Info-communications Technology Industry (AiTi) is Brunei’s communication authentication.
According to Brunei Telecommunication Act, Communication equipment used for connecting with any communication network or communication system must acquire Certification of Conformity from AiTi before being sold or used. Manufacturers in other countries are forbidden to apply for the Certification of Conformity, they can only apply through local dealers or representatives. Unapproved communication devices are returned back to the import origin Country.

The certification of Conformity is divided into two types: private and dealer;

1) Personal Certification of Conformity: Communication device/equipment imported for personal use. In other words, individuals, private enterprises and partner companies need to prove that the imported telecommunication equipment is not used for sale or resale purposes before applying for the certification of Conformity.
2) Dealer Certification of Conformity: Communication devices/equipment imported for sale. Applicants must hold a valid dealer license issued by AiTi. Dealer license holders must apply for a dealer type approval prior to import, and the application is based on the model of the imported equipment.

Communication devices or equipment imported for sale. Applicants must hold a valid dealer license issued by AITI. Dealer license holders must apply for dealer type approval prior to import, and the application would be based on the model of the imported equipment.

AiTi defines equipment with three levels, each level has its specific requirements to show compliance with their relevant standards, and communication devices are classified based on their expected dangerousness.

- Level 1 - Communication device with low risk of interference with other devices when used in radio frequency spectrum and communication network (certification period takes about 1 day)
- Level 2 - Communication device presenting a reasonable risk of interference with other devices when used in radio frequency spectrum and communication network (certification period takes about 7 day)
- Level 3 - Communication devices that have a high risk of radio interference with other devices or harm personal safety when used in radio frequency spectrum and communication networks (Approximately 7 days required for certification)

AiTi reserves the right to request for a test report issued by an accredited testing laboratory, a certification of conformity or a type approval issued by a foreign telecommunication agency, and also accepts EN or FCC test reports.
