SII
Standards Institution of Israel (SII)

SII is Israel's electrical safety certification. It is a voluntary certification but for specified items designated by SII, it is only possible to sell the specified items when the conformity of the product is proved and the SII mark is attached. Electrical product safety testing is mandatory and manufactures must obtain the SII testing certification in order to import products into Israel. Manufacturers can apply for the SII Mark to use the SII Safety Mark on their products.

If specified, electrical products, telecommunication and radio equipment are required to be EMC compliant. From June 2005, imported goods subjected to compulsory standards are classified into four test levels according to public health and safety levels.

1) High risk class
- Toys for Children, household electric devices, pressure equipment, etc.
- CoC, Timely inspection required for shipment
2) Moderate risk level with potential risk
- Sunglasses, carpets, bottles, etc.
- Type approval tests, importer's declaration required
3) Low-risk class with inherent risk
- Ceramic wall tiles, etc.
- No inspection of the product, only requires an importer's declaration of conformity indicating that the product conforms to the applicable compulsory standards.
4) Industrial products that do not directly affect customers
- Certificates, type tests, inspections, etc. are not required.

Wireless and Telecom

Devices and radio terminals that connect to public networks require type approval from the Israeli Ministry of Communication (MoC). For application, a local representative is required, and the approval can be issued by reviewing foreign standard test results without domestic testing. Although Wireless devices approval process also includes reviewing foreign standard test reports, MoC may require additional testing and sample inspection of the equipment.

Energy

For specified products it needs to be labeled with Minimum Energy Performance Standards (MEPS) label and Mandatory Energy Efficiency Label. Labeling requirements are based on minimum power consumption.

Target Products:
Air conditioning, cooktops and ranges/ovens, dishwashers, home and office electronics, dryers, lamps, refrigerators, TV sets, washing machines
