SII is Israel's electrical safety certification. It is a voluntary certification but for specified items designated by SII, it is only possible to sell the specified items when the conformity of the product is proved and the SII mark is attached. Electrical product safety testing is mandatory and manufactures must obtain the SII testing certification in order to import products into Israel. Manufacturers can apply for the SII Mark to use the SII Safety Mark on their products. Target Products: Toys for Children, household electric devices, pressure equipment, Sunglasses, carpets, bottles,etc.
Devices and radio terminals that connect to public networks require type approval from the Israeli Ministry of Communication (MoC). For application, a local representative is required, and the approval can be issued by reviewing foreign standard test results without domestic testing. Although Wireless devices approval process also includes reviewing foreign standard test reports, MoC may require additional testing and sample inspection of the equipment. Target Products: radio transmitter, RFID equipment, contactless card readers, other products that incorporate some kind of RF transmitter, radio terminal devices, etc.
For specified products it needs to be labeled with Minimum Energy Performance Standards (MEPS) label and Mandatory Energy Efficiency Label. Labeling requirements are based on minimum power consumption.
