Tanzania Communications Regulatory Authority (TCRA)

TCRA is Tanzania’s wired and wireless communication certification system. Under the law of the Tanzania communication Act, 1993, all wired and wireless communication devices and Radio and telecommunication terminal equipment in Tanzania are required to go through the compulsory communication certification system.

In order to obtain type approval, the manufacturer of the specified item must undergo a conformity certification test in accordance with Tanzania standards, and test reports or certificates containing the application and technical specification, a standard checklist, a picture of the device, and a type approval fee needs to be submitted to TCRA.

There is no specific requirement for testing laboratories to issue a report, only reports or certificates which can prove the product’s conformity to the technical standards stipulated in Tanzania and the manufacturer’s DoC must be submitted.

Target Products:
Low-power transmitters such as short-range cordless phones and microphones, garage and vehicle door opener controls, radio-controlled toys, security alarm systems, scanning and ultra-renewable receivers, TV interface devices such as VCRs. Other devices include personal computers and peripherals, video monitors, modems, land mobile transmitters such as cellular transmitters, transmitters used in maritime and air safety services, and other transmitters used in civil band (CB) & private radio services.
